Brisbane Marthoma Church Building Committee

The Building Committee was formed in the year 2021 to conduct a feasibility study on the
possibility of purchasing and owning our own Church building. The present Building Committee comprises of
Achen, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustee Accountant, other Building Committee members and
representatives from all prayer groups.

After visiting several sites, on 24th August 2022 an emergency Building Committee meeting was called to discuss a
property at 439 Middle Road, Green Bank. On 25th August 2022 Building Committee members visited the property
and were very much interested in the land, due to its size and possibility of getting development approval for
church construction.

The Building Committee called an emergency Executive Committee to discuss options to put in an offer for 439
Middle Road property. Executive Committee put the proposal to the General Body and obtained approval. On 19th
September 2022, by the Grace of God and joined effort by all the parish members, Bank agreed to finance AUD 1.2
Million to purchase the land. On 5th December 2022, settlement was completed and Brisbane Marthoma Church
became the owner of the property at 439 Middle Road, Greenbank.

Building Committee proposed to expand the number of Building Committee members due to the volume of work
involved in this project. Additional Building Committee members were elected from the General Body. Sub-groups
were formed and assigned to carry out renovation work, obtain development approval, finance and fund raising.

Ongoing activities:

Major renovation work to revamp and convert the existing house at 439 Middle Road into a Parsonage commenced
on 30th June 2023, led by a dedicated renovation Building Committee team.

Building Committee Development Approval (DA) team has had a pre-lodgment meeting with the Logan City Council
which has been positive, and further preliminary work is being carried out for submission of DA application.

Building Committee fund raising team have planned for and are implementing various fund raising activities. Major
building fund contributions were raised through Harvest festival, food sale, auctions after church service and
voluntary contributions from kind hearted members.

Building Committee finance team worked with the Bank for obtaining the loan for purchasing the property at 439
Middle Road. Appreciate the commendable work carried out in obtaining the loan and are working towards to get
the loan for building the Church at 439 Middle Road, Greenbank.

If we stand together, God willing, we can achieve our dream project in the coming years, to pass on as a legacy to
our future generations.
