Townsville Times

Townsville, a small coastal town in the northern region of Queensland witnessed a spurt of growth in its immigrant population in the last two years. As the Malayalee community grew, the presence of the Marthomite community too was pronounced and together with The CSI members have now established themselves as a congregation. At a function in March The Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas, Diocesan Bishop for Australia lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the congregation and today though small in number it flourishes, strong in faith and fellowship, giving leadership to the Malayalee Christian Community in Townsville. The resident Vicar of Brisbane has also charge of the Townsville congregation and was there to facilitate worship and administration. The Brisbane Marthoma Parish wishes the congregation in Townsville all the very best in its faith journey.
